Accommodation, banquet dinner, party and New Year’s brunch

It is told that, on March 1811, on the Judge (of High Court) Salazar time and on the occasion of the French Invasions, a dinner at the Palace, served to General Ney, in that time a Massena subaltern, which he left in a hurry when he was informed on the defeat of his troops at Foz de Arouce, became famous.

It was then Wellesley, commander of the Anglo Portuguese troops and later the Wellington Duke, who came to finish that dinner at the Palace, in that same night, since he lodge there his Head–Quarters, from where official correspondence, dated 16th March, was expedited.
